2021 Black Label Cabernet Franc
TASTING NOTES -
The southern end of Napa Valley’s Vaca Range serves as the birthplace of the fruit for this single-barrel expression. The influence from the San Pablo Bay creates a cooler, more austere climate in the Atlas Peak appellation, resulting in tiny clusters of berries that possess nerve and supreme concentration. Abundant notes of black cherries, blueberries, black tea, violets, cedar, crushed gravel, and vanilla cream blend effortlessly together, framed by fine-grained mountain tannins and providing structure and depth to an intensely nuanced mouthful of fruit and spice. The plush mouthfeel is backed by a keen acidity that lingers through to a bright and fresh finish, resulting in a wine that solidifies itself as a wonderful single-vineyard expression from this rugged mountain AVA.
